When installing OCS 2007 and 2007 R2, it is very easy to miss a step. One of the steps is a manual step to configure the IIS Web Components with the certificate used by the Front End server that is hosting the Web Components. Since there isn’t a link for it, many administrators simply miss it, or forget to go back and complete the step.
What happens, if this step is missed, is that the Whiteboard feature in OCS will not work properly. When you try to use the Whiteboard, you will get the following message:
“Content failed to download due to a problem with the Conference Center configuration. Contact your administrator.”
Sometimes, it will also say, “Loading Image” and stays that way for… oh… about… forever.
It is a pretty easy fix. Go into IIS, and configure the bindings to use the OCS Front-End’s certificate for the default Web site. Restart the default Web site, and it should start working again.
